About me

My name is Marine Barjol and I am a third-year international student from France at the University of Michigan. I am majoring in Political Science with minors in writing and translation studies. In the future, I want to attend law school and become an attorney. Intern at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy - September – December 2016

  • Worked primarily with French visiting fellow Fabrice Balanche for the primary editing and translating of his work composed of policy, analysis, and book.

  • Performed daily administrative tasks such as answering the phone, preparing for Policy Forum, and organizing roundtables.

  • Wrote a research paper on Russian intervention in Syria for the Michigan in Washington program research class. 

 

Intern at the Canadian Parliament - May-June 2016

  • Intern at the office of Member of Parliament, Christine Moore (NDP) - bilingual office French and English.

  • Wrote speeches and did some research on possible future bills.

  • Booked reservations for customers on the phone, online and in person, bookkeeping to keep records of daily financial affairs and register checks and cards into the records, assisted on sales and acted as a liaison to the clients ensuring their needs were taken care of.

  • Trained new assistants to work with our software Unicamp, as well as teaching how to do the bookkeeping, taking reservation and how to check customers in and out of the campground, and on sales-assistance.

Raising Money for Philanthropy - Fall 2015 – Winter 2017

  • Raised money for Sharsheret and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation by making and selling grilled cheese and tomato soup throughout the evening and late night.   

 

Equestrian Coach Assistant - Summer 2014 and 2015

  • Assisted my equestrian coach with first time ridinglessons for groups of children. 

  • Taught students from 3 to 6 years old how to behave around horses, how to groom horses, and how to be confortable with riding horses by creating games and paths to follow.

Rhythmic Gymnastic Coach - Fall 2009 – Winter 2012

  • Coached a rhythmic gymnastic team of six beginner gymnasts during three years. I coached them for three hours a week, teaching them rhythmic gymnastic skills as well as skills with the apparatus, created and taught them routines in order to prepare them for competitions and shows. 

  • Coached gymnasts during competitions and shows at regional and state level, which led to a first position their second year and change of level and a third position in their third year.
